ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUES®
What is Active Release Technique® (ART®)?
ART® is a patented soft tissue technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia (connective tissue), and nerves. ART® is a non-invasive treatment system precisely engineered to locate and quickly resolve soft-tissue disorders.
How is ART® utilized? The diagnostic process utilizes the provider’s hands to identify aberrations in tissue texture, tension, and movement, continuing until the provider determines the root cause of a condition.
Once identified, the condition is targeted by one or more ART® treatment protocols, each combining precise touch with specific patient movements, to restore proper function and relieve pain.
Because the ART® system is unique, the results may vary. There are no known side effects and most conditions, including strains, sprains, and other musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), are resolved in just five or fewer treatment sessions.
Benefits of ART®?
A multitude of musculoskeletal conditions can benefit from ART®. These conditions all have one important similarity: they are frequently the result of overused muscles, causing muscle spasm, scar tissue and eventual loss of function within a region of the body.
Individuals who may benefit from ART® include:
- Members of the athletic community, both recreational and professional.
- Chronic pain patients with symptoms mimicking an overuse syndrome
- Anyone who has not been able to find relief through conventional therapies
